Korshamn’s

How does water drill rock?

As the ice retreated, swirling meltwater set stones and gravel spinning against the bedrock. The result: glacial potholes, including one about six metres across. The kettle has outgrown the galley.

This card belongs to the whole reserve area; individual potholes have not been located on this map.

  1. A small place with deep history

    Korshamn, on Malmaön’s northern tip, has been protected since 1962. The reserve covers 1.3 hectares.

  2. Look between the trees

    Pine and spruce surround the glacial potholes. Green patches show mapped vegetation; grey patches show bare rock. Coverage is incomplete.

  3. Leave the kettles where they are
